It’s not that I’ve never traveled. As a child, we moved around the United states, as a family does when father is in the armed forces. Later, I would occasionally travel: to Mexico, Canada, and an extended vacation in Southeast Asia. It wasn’t until 2017, when I traveled to Iceland for an Ultra-Marathon, that I began obsessing about travel.
In the run-up to the trip, I was mostly just concerned with the being adequately trained to complete the distance. I was traveling with a group, and someone else was doing the planning. I just needed to attend to my gear and brand new passport. I hardly looked at the packet of tour information provided to me.
